But then a crime in her West Village neighborhood connects Emma with Winnie, a friendly middle-aged neighbor who Emma has admired from afar for years. Emma soon learns that a tragedy lurks under the surface of Winnie’s seemingly picturesque life: a book she wrote years ago was published without her permission, and she may soon be forced to sell her beloved house.

Emma becomes determined to help her. But as she searches for clues about the mystery behind Winnie’s book, she discovers that Winnie is keeping secrets that may change everything Emma thought she knew about her neighbor.
