One day, a curious girl named Sophie finds a seed and, with her mother’s help, decides to plant it in the family’s garden to watch it grow.

As the seed grows, Sophie watches the many changes that take place, and soon there are pumpkins!

When fall comes and it is time to harvest the pumpkins, Sophie thinks the story has ended, but soon discovers that the story of her pumpkin seed has just begun, and that sometimes more than a seed can grow from learning something new.

This enchanting STEM children’s picture book integrates the beauty of storytelling with the science of seed growth, encouraging and inspiring curiosity about plant growth and a deep connection with nature.

Author Brook Patricia grew up near an apple orchard, a gorgeous bay, and dark woods in coastal Wisconsin. The beauty of her surroundings caused a deep connection with nature and endless opportunities to explore new things. Inspired by nature and everything she likes to grow, she wanted to write about it and share these experiences with others. Throughout her education, she began to realize that both reading and writing are catalysts for changing our lives and connecting with others, and how words can describe our experiences in a meaningful way. As an advocate for literacy, she believes stories connect, educate, and inspire us. In her first book, The Pumpkin Seed, she integrates the beauty of storytelling with the science of seed growth. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in early childhood education and continues to write, inspired by her breathtaking surroundings. Brook lives with her family in the woods of Wisconsin.
