ABOUT THE BOOK

The Owl and the Magpie is a charming tale designed to help shed light on the things in life that matter most. The story follows two feathered friends who spend every day together. The magpie, true to nature, is captivated by physical stuff. The owl doesn’t quite understand the magpie’s obsession because he lives a much simpler life. Eventually, the magpie is faced with a major life shift which leads him to discover what he really should have been treasuring all along.

Author and illustrator Kasey Stevenson Buck is an artist and photographer who lives with her husband and three kids in Long Island, New York, where she was born and raised. She wrote and illustrated her first children’s book, The Owl and the Magpie for her five year-old son Miles after she discovered he was hoarding random things he found at school.

When she is not drawing up new ideas for children’s books or chasing after her own kids, Kasey can be found keeping herself busy with one of her countless other pursuits, including yoga, oil painting, photography, gardening, baking, and camping with her family.

Kasey also volunteers for the national organization Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep as an Affiliated Photographer and Digital Retouch Artist.
